Information

Arcadia is a prefecture situated in the central and eastern part of the Peloponnese and it borders with Argolida to the northeast,Corinthia and Achaia to the north, Ilia and Messinia to the west and Laconia to the south. The capital city is Tripoli. The highest mountains are Mainalo, Taygetos and Parnonas.

On the mountain of Mainalo at 1981 meters, there is the Ski Centre of Ostrakina where visitors can enjoy nature and skiing within trees. Mainalo Ski Centre has three ski lifts, ski runs and a guest lounge. The central part of Arcadia is the heart of the prefecture and it’s the area with the most breathtaking scenery in Peloponnese, with medieval villages and lush vegetation. Dimitsana, Vytina, Karytena are only some of the popular winter resorts, well-known for the outdoor activities.

Tripoli is the capital of the prefecture of Arcadia. The city is a center of administration and culture.
The city's geographical position (in the center of the Peloponnese) makes it ideal for accessing all regions easily for business and pleasure. The Battle of Tripoli ( Tripolitsa ) in 1821 was the first and one of the most crucial victories of  the Greeks during the War of Independence against  the Turks.
